PIR motion detector with D-Link DCS-3220 webcam?
I have a D-Link DCS-3220 webcam that supports use of a motion detector to tell it when to upload pictures to an FTP site. I am wondering what type of motion detector to get. The motion detector will not be part of a central alarm system, and it should be able to be powered from a wall socket. It will sit inside behind a window next to my webcam and detect anything that approaches my front door.
Usually this motion detection is part of the software package.
My system has many variables, when do I want to do something and what to do?
Do you want to trigger on a mosquito or a bumblebee passing by, or if you need a plane to head your way?
My system is continuously recording in a loop to make a delay. Once there is a trigger event it may start to record after the delay so this way without recording all the time I can see what happened before the trigger.
The record parameters include what resolution, how fast…how much memory…
For example if a bumblebee comes to sniff a flower I may want to record for one minute this would be in a particular area of the screen and so on.
In the case of the flower area, the delay is 10 seconds. So I see the bee approaching, landing, when it passes in the trigger area it records on the hard disk…
As you can see it is very application dependent.
