How to stop, catch, or maim ding dong ditchers.?
For the past year periodicly kids will sneak up at my house and ding dong ditch my house. Now these are no ordinary 7th grade kids because its happening at 1:30 or 2:00 am! I know its kids because it only happens on days when they wouldnt have school. I was wondering what can i do to stop them. Because we installed these motion sensors that would catch people who walked by and not only turn on the porch light but also on inside so it would apear as if we were thier. so anyways what can i do to stop them? Or better yet catch them in the act? Or if i cant do either find some way to cause them bodely harm the second thier finger lands on that doorbell. And if i do catch them what can i bring them to the cops for?
Any device that causes them pain or injury,even temporarily would likely be illegal,and possibly get you in more trouble than them.Couple ideas.
There are fairly inexpensive digital cameras,triggered by motion called “game cameras”used by sportsmen and wildlife buffs…..you may even be able to get something similar on a short term loan basis from your police dept.
Put a “disable” switch on your doorbell allowing it to be turned off at bedtime.Or one of those”somebodys home” lamp timers to turn doorbell power supply on during rising hours and off after,say 10 PM.
Sadly the outside lights or inside reactions only serve to excire the miscreants more.When ignored they generally go elsewhere for “fun”.
