outdoor motion lights?

if i install motion lights on my porch, it wont react to cats or squirrels if they walk near by, will it? what kind would be the best? thanks

Motion detector lights are designed to turn on when ever anything pass by their sensors. This includes humans or animals. My husband and I purchased one from Homedepot nearly two years ago and every time our neighbor’s dog, a deer, or any other animal pass by it triggers the lights on. It was one of the cheap kinds; but it works to do the job that is required. The light does not stay on forever and the security benefits out weight the little annoyances of having animals walking by every once in a while and causing the lights to come on.

If your planning on installing them near a bedroom window you could put up window shades/ blinds to help keep the light from bothering you too much while your sleeping.
