Can I use my home security system without a contract?
I have a new house that has a home security system installed, with motion detectors, an alarm, a keypad, etc. How can I activate it and use it without having to pay a security service to moniter it?
This is a new house, they haven’t given me a code for the keypad, and pushing buttons doesn’t seem to do anything. The keypad does tell me if any doors or windows are open or if the motion sensor detects anything…I just want to be able to set it to go off if there is an intruder.
Is this a “new” home that the builder installed the system, or a home that the previous owner installed it? A builder should have given you an instruction booklet, and if it’s from a previous owner, the system may belong to the service provider.
